David grew up in Hanceville, Alabama and Gretta grew up in Decatur, Alabama.  They got married in January 2000. They have 3 children:  Abbey, Sidney, and Wyatt.  They love Jesus, sweet tea and Alabama Crimson Tide football.

In July 2011, they went on their first short term mission trip together to serve in the Andes Mountains of Peru.  During this trip, the Lord began calling them to reach the nations with the gospel and equip churches to grow and thrive.

In June 2012, their family moved to Los Fresnos, TX to attend the “Center for Pioneer Church Planting” (CPCP), a 2 year missionary training program with To Every Tribe.  They graduated from the CPCP in May 2014.  David served on staff at First Baptist Church of Los Fresnos as youth minister and helped coordinate local missions until December 2016.

In 2015, they were accepted with the mission board, Reaching & Teaching International Ministries.  They moved back to Alabama in 2017 and spent several months raising their missions support and in November 2017, they moved to Roatan, Honduras to serve as field missionaries there.

Between them, the Johns have served in the following short-term mission trips:

They understand that God is sovereign in their mission work. They believe that it is important to plan and have goals but at the same time, they understand that God is the one who goes before them and establishes their path.
